University of Guyana Hosts Thrilling 2024 Table Tennis Tournament

The University of Guyana (UG) has successfully concluded its 2024 Table Tennis Tournament, featuring competitive matches that saw Patrick Triumph and Allimah Eastman crowned as the Men’s and Women’s Singles champions.

The tournament attracted 80 participants from various faculties and departments, showcasing the university’s vibrant sporting culture.

In partnership with the Guyana Table Tennis Association, the event marked a notable 23.6% female participation, highlighting the growing interest in table tennis among students.

In the Men’s Singles final, Patrick Triumph faced Ramesh Rajbidar and demonstrated exceptional skill and concentration, winning in straight sets with scores of 11-5 and 11-9 to claim the title.

On the women’s side, Allimah Eastman excelled in the round-robin format, winning all her matches to secure the championship.

Nicky Melville from the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) finished in second place, while Tirishatha Semple from FSS and Sarah Rai from the University of Guyana Business School tied for third.

Jaime Skeete, UG’s Sports Organiser, praised the participants for their enthusiasm and talent, reaffirming the university’s commitment to promoting excellence in both athletics and academics.
