The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) continues its efforts to enhance the quality of life for persons with disabilities worldwide, as highlighted by Dennis Francis, President of the UN General Assembly.

Speaking on the program Disability and You, Francis stressed the organization’s ongoing work to address the needs of people with mental, physical, and sensory disabilities.

Francis explained that while each country faces unique challenges in supporting persons with disabilities, the UN has been actively involved in providing assistance, including expertise and guidance, to help countries implement resolutions aimed at improving the lives of these individuals.

He also emphasized the importance of respect and inclusion for persons with disabilities, stating that when provided the opportunity, they can contribute meaningfully to society.

The UN has consistently promoted the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities as part of its foundational principles focused on human rights and equality.

The United Nations has a long history of advocating for inclusive societies, ensuring that persons with disabilities are treated as equal members of society and given the opportunity to thrive.
