Uitvlugt Estate in Region Three will soon benefit from the addition of a long boom excavator, expected to arrive within two weeks.
This equipment will facilitate critical infrastructural work, enhancing access to cane fields and supporting local cane farmers.
Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha made the announcement during a meeting with farmers at the sugar factory.
He also committed to rehabilitating access dams, including the Pumpkin and Tiger dams, to improve field access.
Despite recent setbacks due to adverse weather conditions that destroyed approximately 108,000 tonnes of cane, production goals remain ambitious, with a target of 100,000 metric tonnes of sugar by the end of 2024.
