UG Staff Combined Crowned Champions at Annual Inter-Faculty Domino Championship

The University of Guyana (UG) Turkeyen Campus hosted an intense and thrilling final at the annual Inter-Faculty Domino Championship, with UG Staff Combined emerging as the champions.

The event, held on October 25, brought together 12 teams from across the university, including both staff and students, all vying for the prestigious title and bragging rights.

Organized by the University’s Sports Unit, the competition featured teams from the College of Medical Sciences (CMS), the Institute of Distance and Continuing Education (IDCE), as well as the Faculties of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Engineering.

The preliminary rounds were fiercely contested, culminating in a closely fought final.

UG Staff Combined demonstrated exceptional teamwork and skill, finishing the final with a total of 74 points, securing the title.

CMS followed closely behind with 72 points, while IDCE A took third place with 66 points.

In individual awards, Chris Sobers from IDCE was named the tournament’s MVP, while Shantelle Washington from CMS and Bakedia Clarke from IDCE shared the title of Female MVP, marking a first for the tournament.

The victorious UG Staff Combined team consisted of Jarrel Gentle, Daimyon Reid, Daniel Gentle, Jaime Skeete, Jamila La Fleur, Ms. Isaacs, Huron Ifill, and Orphio Griffith.
