The second annual Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) Futsal Tournament kicked off on Sunday evening at the Retrieve Heart Court, with high-energy matches setting the tone for an exciting competition.

The tournament opened with a ceremonial march-past, followed by remarks from UDFA President Wainwright Bethune and Linden Mayor Sharma Solomon, who both expressed hopes for a successful and competitive event.

Fourteen clubs are competing for over three million dollars in cash and prizes.

In Sunday’s action, Winners Connection came out strong, defeating Coomacka 5-2.

Meanwhile, Blueberry Hill and Milerock played to a 2-all draw, High Stars edged Eagles 2-1, and Amelia Ward narrowly defeated Netrockers 4-3.

Botafago made a statement with a dominant 7-0 win over Silver Shattas, signaling their intent to challenge for the championship.

The night concluded with Top 20 securing a tight 4-3 victory over Capital FC.

The group stage continues Wednesday evening with six more matches as teams vie for a spot in the final.
