During a meeting with residents in Victory Valley on Sunday, Minister of Youth, Culture, and Sport Charles Ramson highlighted the rapid development taking place in Region 10, particularly focusing on the construction of two world-class international stadiums set to be completed by mid-2025.
These investments are part of the government’s broader commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure in Linden and across Guyana.
Minister Ramson emphasized that the government’s efforts to advance Linden’s development were not without challenges, recounting protests and opposition faced during the push for progress.
He stressed the importance of development for the region and for the nation, underscoring that the citizens of Guyana have the right to chart their own path in a post-colonial era.
Responding to critics of the Bayroc Synthetic Track, Ramson asserted that despite opposition, the government would not be deterred from its goals.
He affirmed that no prior plans were left by the previous government and that their administration, led by President Dr. Irfaan Ali, was determined to drive the country’s progress.
President Ali also addressed the McKenzie Stadium, confirming that it will be completed mid-year.
The President promised an exciting grand opening, including an international cricket match and prominent football players as part of the festivities.
He concluded with a call for national unity, emphasizing that “One Guyana” remains the key to the country’s future prosperity.
The two new stadiums are expected to be game-changers for Region 10, boosting not only sports but also the local economy, and further enhancing Guyana’s reputation on the international sports stage.
