Twelve Small Businesses Awarded GreenTech Funding to Boost Environmental Innovation

Twelve small businesses have each received one million dollars in funding through the Green Technology (GreenTech) Fund at the Small Business Awards 2024 held on Friday.

The fund aims to support innovative environmental projects aimed at addressing today’s pressing environmental challenges.

The GreenTech Fund recognizes businesses that have developed groundbreaking solutions to environmental issues through process improvements and technological innovations.

The recipients, representing various sectors, shared their plans on how they will utilize the grant to advance their unique projects.

Alicia Henry of Eco Cycle Indoor Composting Solutions expressed her gratitude, highlighting how the funding will help improve the country, benefit individuals, and contribute to economic growth.

Stefan Gravesande of Savannah Tours explained that the grant would assist in revolutionizing Guyana’s tourism industry by developing a digital system that is community-based and environmentally conscious.

Brian Smith of Dragonfly Drone Solutions discussed how their technology would help farmers sustain their livelihoods by using fewer fertilizers, increasing yields, and reducing environmental impact.

Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Oneidge Walrond, congratulated the awardees and expressed her excitement about the potential of their projects.

She noted that the grants align with the government’s vision of creating a greener, more sustainable Guyana and encouraged the recipients to remain committed to their proposals and diligently work towards their successful implementation.

Other recipients of the GreenTech funding include Dynamic Supplies, Nicks Phonics Centre, Fiducia Incorporated, Raj Hydrophonic Farms, Jada Investments, KT’s Evergreen Farm, TFA Outdoors, Eco Agrifarms, and Sven Media.

These businesses will now have the opportunity to execute their projects, contributing to the advancement of sustainable development in Guyana.
