The Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) has raised concerns over the exclusion of Red Force captain Darren Bravo from the West Indies One-Day International (ODI) squad set to face England.
The TTCB is urging Cricket West Indies (CWI) lead selector Desmond Haynes to provide a comprehensive explanation of the criteria used in selecting the regional team.
Darren Bravo, who had an outstanding Super50 season, leading the Red Force to a record-breaking win in the regional tournament, was left out of the West Indies ODI squad.
Bravo emerged as the highest run-scorer in the Super50 series, winning the Golden Bat with 416 runs, including a high score of 139 not out and an impressive average of 83.2.
The TTCB General Secretary, Altaf Baksh, expressed uncertainty about the rationale behind Bravo’s omission, especially considering his exceptional performance in the recent tournament.
Baksh called for transparency in the selection process and criticized Haynes’ explanation that CWI is investing in players with an eye on the 2027 50-over World Cup.
Bravo’s exclusion has led to his announcement on social media that he is stepping away from the game.
The TTCB emphasized the importance of recognizing and rewarding top performers to encourage and support regional talent rather than discouraging it.
