Transport Claims Dominant Win in GCA’s NBS 40-Overs Second Division Tournament

The Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) kicked off its 2025 season over the weekend with the highly anticipated New Building Society (NBS) 40-overs second division tournament.

The opening match saw Transport deliver a dominant performance against Team Sophia, securing a massive 267-run victory.

Batting first, Transport posted an impressive total of 313 for 7 in their 40 overs.

The team’s innings was anchored by Jeremiah Hohenkirk, who scored a brilliant 95 runs, supported by Emmanuel Lewis (64) and Shiloh Adams (51).

Jermain Dewsbury also made a valuable contribution with 39 runs.

For Sophia, Steven Rose (2-77), Malcolm Morris (2-62), and Dwayne Peters (2-49) were the top bowlers but struggled to contain Transport’s powerful batting.

In response, Sophia was unable to match the high target and was bowled out for just 46 runs.

Only Malcolm Morris (10) reached double figures.

Under-19 bowler Renaldo Grenville was the star of the match, claiming 5 wickets, while Hohenkirk, who had starred with the bat, followed up with a remarkable four-wicket haul.

In another match at Bourda, GCC triumphed over Agricola by 111 runs.

GCC posted a total of 296 for 6, and despite efforts from Agricola, they were bowled out for just 59 runs.

The tournament will continue this weekend with more exciting fixtures.
