Transport and Harbours Sports Club Dominate, but Game Ends in Draw

Shiloh Adams showcased his batting prowess with a remarkable century, leading the Transport and Harbours Sports Club to a dominant performance against the Everest Cricket Club in the GCA and Friends Second Division Two-day tournament.

However, despite their strong showing, the game ultimately ended in a draw.

In the match held at Everest Cricket Club, Adams stole the show with an impressive knock of 115 runs from 167 balls, featuring 18 boundaries.

He received valuable support from Romeo Deonarine (42), Riyad Latif (38), and John Persaud (29), guiding their team to a total of 292 for eight declared in 60.2 overs.

Steven Mangal shone with the ball for Everest, claiming five wickets for 84 runs, while Nitganad Matkuara bagged three wickets for 92 runs.

In response, Everest struggled and were bowled out for just 127 runs in 48 overs, with Kevin Benn (31) and Ruel Persaud (30*) offering the most resistance.

Veteran medium-fast bowler Shawn Massiah starred for Transport, picking up five wickets for 33 runs.

Transport extended their lead in the second innings, declaring on 91 for eight in 16.2 overs, setting Everest a target of 256 runs for victory.

Jeremiah Hohenkirk (32) and Latif (27) were the main contributors with the bat.

Everest faced a challenging chase but managed to hold on for a draw, finishing on 128 for seven.

Despite the efforts of Transport’s bowlers, who claimed seven wickets, Everest’s resilience ensured they avoided defeat.

In other two-day matches, the Demerara Cricket Club drew with the Eldorado Cricket Club at DCC.

While the game ended without a clear winner, Adams’ stellar performance and Transport and Harbours Sports Club’s dominance showcased the thrilling and competitive nature of cricket in the GCA and Friends Second Division tournament.
