Residents and commuters using the Ogle Airport Access Road between the Rupert Craig Highway and the Railway Embankment should prepare for a two-month road closure starting tomorrow, August 23.

The closure is necessary to facilitate road widening works carried out by the Ministry of Public Works.

Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, confirmed that residents directly affected by the closure have been consulted.

Special permits will be issued to ensure access to their homes during the construction period.

To mitigate disruptions, the ministry has strengthened alternative routes in advance of the road closure.

In addition, emergency repair work is underway on the Triumph bridges along the East Coast Demerara Highway.

The contractor responsible for the bridge construction is carrying out the repairs under the supervision of the ministry.

Minister Edghill acknowledged that the repair work would cause traffic disruptions due to the extensive breaking and excavating required.

The ministry is also prepared to address issues with other failing bridges along the highway as needed.

The public is urged to accommodate the necessary repairs and anticipate traffic delays during this period.
