Town Clerk Engages Vendors Following Court Rulings

By Nakasia Logan

The Mayor and City Council (M&CC) are actively engaging vendors in business areas following recent court rulings for their removal outside Demico House and Muneshwers.

Town Clerk Candace Nelson disclosed that she is meeting with vendors in groups to discuss the way forward, prompted by letters to the council from several businesses including Popeyes, Camex Restaurant, and Continental Agencies.

In a phone conversation with NCN News, Nelson emphasized the need to address these requests to prevent potential legal actions against the council.

She expressed concern that failure to remove vendors could result in affected businesses taking legal action.

Moving forward, Nelson intends to encourage the Markets and Public Health Committee to devise a comprehensive plan to address such requests and prevent similar situations in the future.

Additionally, she plans to involve the City Constabulary in addressing encumbrances along Water Street to ensure free-flowing traffic.

The removal of vendors outside Demico House has been welcomed by the public, with citizens expressing satisfaction with the improved cleanliness and ease of movement in the area.

One citizen, Lloyd Major, noted the positive impact on pedestrian movement and expressed pleasure with the changes.
