A shocking tragedy unfolded this morning when Toshao Ridley Joseph of Taserrene, Region 7, was found dead in his hotel room at the Signature Inn Hotel in Georgetown.
The 37-year-old leader was scheduled to graduate as valedictorian from the Professional Nursing Assistant Programme at the Charles Rosa Nursing School today.
Hotel staff discovered Joseph’s lifeless body, and police were called to the scene, where it was revealed that he had been stabbed to death.
The news of his untimely passing has sent shockwaves through both his community and the nursing fraternity.
Joseph was in Georgetown attending an executive meeting of the National Toshaos’ Council.
His death has left many stunned, including Chairman Derrick John, who expressed his grief:
“It was very shocking and disturbing to us. It’s a very saddened situation. We realized that Toshao was a very dedicated leader, and he had a lot of potential.”
At a graduation ceremony in Linden, attendees wore black ribbons in Joseph’s honor.
Joseph had been awarded for his high level of integrity and compassion, along with recognition for his excellent academic performance, and he was named the best graduating student.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death, but no arrests have been made so far.
