The suspect in the tragic murder of Toshao Ridley Jacob has turned himself over to police custody.

This was confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of Law Enforcement, Wendell Blanhum.

The suspect, who has not been named, admitted to the crime during an interview with investigators.

The murder took place on the morning of Monday, December 16, at the Signature Inn Hotel.

The discovery of Toshao Jacob’s body was made by a staff member of the hotel, who had gone to deliver breakfast and noticed blood near the room door.

Upon further investigation, the staff member found the 37-year-old Toshao lying lifeless in a pool of blood.

Jacob, the leader of Taserrene in the Middle Mazaruni District, Region 7, had been in the city for two important events: an executive toshao’s meeting and his nursing graduation, where he had been named valedictorian.

Chairman of the National Toshao’s Council, Derrick John, expressed his shock and sorrow over the incident, stating that the entire family and village are in mourning.

“It was very shocking and disturbing to us. It’s a very saddened situation,” John said.

He also highlighted the great potential Toshao Jacob had shown as a dedicated leader since his election in July.

The suspect is currently being questioned by the police, and it is expected that they will appear in court following the completion of the investigation.

Minister of Governance, Gail Teixeira, has extended her condolences to the family and friends of Toshao Ridley Jacob, stating that the loss of any individual should be mourned with respect, especially when their life is senselessly and brutally taken.

This heartbreaking tragedy has left the community in shock, and authorities are continuing their investigations into the murder.
