Day one of Titan Bowl XIII, hosted by Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG), delivered electrifying performances as secondary schools from across the country competed for top honors.
The tournament, which has become a premier platform for youth basketball development, showcased skill and determination in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions.
In the girls’ competition, Kwakwani Secondary and The Bishop’s High School emerged as dominant forces.
Kwakwani overpowered President’s College in Game 1 with a decisive 22-4 victory, led by Sherese Leacock, who scored 8 points, and Maria Samuels, who added 6 points and 4 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bishop’s High put on an impressive display, defeating Marian Academy 42-6, thanks to a stellar 30-point performance from Rehaicia Romain.
The boys’ division featured high-energy matches and standout individual efforts.
Queens College secured a convincing 42-24 win over Berbice High, with Owen Hooper contributing 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals.
St. Rose’s High edged out New Amsterdam Secondary in a nail-biting 31-28 game, led by Cheziah Bernard’s 13 points and Donny Gasper’s double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds.
St. Stanislaus delivered the most dominant performance of the day, crushing Marian Academy 56-1.
Daniel Chisholm led the charge with 17 points, while Dimitri Crandon impressed with 7 rebounds, 6 steals, and 9 assists.
Kwakwani Secondary also stood out with a hard-fought 39-34 win over Mackenzie High, driven by Simeon Sinclair’s all-around contributions.
The tournament, supported by major local sponsors and the National Sports Commission, continues to solidify its role in fostering youth talent and promoting basketball in Guyana.
Co-Director of YBG, Chris Bowman, shared his thoughts on the event’s success, highlighting the dedication of players, coaches, and organizers.
