Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) has announced that the much-anticipated Titan Bowl 13 and Tertiary Knockout tournaments will now tip off on Friday, December 13, and conclude on Monday, December 16.
The rescheduling came at the request of the National Sports Commission to allow the One Guyana Futsal tournament to wrap up.
YBG President Chris Bowman explained that the adjustment, though inconvenient, was necessary to avoid the resource-intensive task of repeatedly setting up and dismantling the court over a short period.
Bowman highlighted the importance of these year-end tournaments, noting their role in evaluating the success of the year’s youth and school basketball development programs.
The tournaments will feature teams from across the country, showcasing a wide range of talent.
Despite the schedule change, YBG anticipates an exciting and competitive event, ensuring a strong close to the basketball calendar for 2024.
Bowman expressed optimism for the tournaments while emphasizing the need to avoid similar disruptions in the future, given the challenges posed to logistics and participating teams.
