The Guyana Police Force’s Traffic Department is calling on drivers to prioritize time management to enhance road safety across the nation.
This guidance was shared by Sergeant Dwain Caleb, who oversees traffic at the Mahaica station, during a segment of the program “Police and You.”
Sergeant Caleb pointed out that many drivers often rush to reach their destinations, which frequently leads to dangerous driving behavior, such as excessive speeding.
He emphasized that a more organized approach to time can significantly improve safety on the roads, encouraging commuters to adjust their schedules to avoid last-minute departures.
In a related advisory, Sergeant Ronald Payne from Regional Division 4B urged greater caution among drivers utilizing the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
He noted that while the highway maintains a speed limit of 100 kilometers, its condition has deteriorated over the years, necessitating a reduction in speed for safe travel.
Traffic officials recommend several strategies for effective time management, including careful planning, leveraging technology for navigation, allowing for earlier departures, and practicing defensive driving techniques.
By incorporating these measures, drivers can play a crucial role in fostering a safer driving environment for all.
This initiative underscores the ongoing commitment of the Guyana Police Force to promote road safety and reduce the risk of accidents throughout the country.
