The Government of Guyana is working on a rigorous verification process for the distribution of the $100,000 cash grant to eligible citizens.

The Ministry of Finance, alongside other government agencies, is developing a digital app to streamline this process and ensure that only qualified individuals receive the grant.

The app will include critical details such as the name, identification or passport number, geographical location, and phone number of eligible recipients.

This will serve as the primary system for verification before cash cheques are issued or grants are distributed in more remote, hinterland areas.

The digital tool is expected to play a significant role in organizing and expediting the distribution process.

In a recent update, Vice President and PPP General Secretary Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo confirmed that Guyanese citizens living abroad but temporarily in the country during the grant distribution period will also be eligible to receive the funds.

However, it was clarified that proxies will not be allowed to collect the grant on behalf of others.

The Government is aiming to ensure that all eligible individuals, whether residing in urban or hinterland areas, can access their grants securely and efficiently through the newly developed system.
