The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMRSC) set the South Dakota circuit ablaze with high-octane action during the ‘1320 Heat’ drag racing series for 2024.
Spectators witnessed exhilarating performances as drivers pushed the limits of speed and skill on the drag strip.
Peter Daby emerged as the standout performer of the day, piloting his Mazda RX-7 to victory in the nine-second class with an impressive time of 9.076 seconds.
His remarkable speed earned him the coveted title of Fastest Time of the Day, showcasing his dominance on the track.
Despite the male-dominated field, Malicia Lawrence made her mark with a strong performance, almost clinching the 15-second bracket before encountering a fuel pump issue.
Her determination and skill hinted at future successes as she prepares to challenge her male counterparts in upcoming races.
In other classes, drivers showcased their prowess behind the wheel:
- Fiona Dhanpat secured victory in the female class, commanding her Cadillac ATS with precision.
- Pankraj Ramdeo impressed in the 16-second class with his Toyota Caldina.
- Vivikanand Jaikaran dominated the 15-second class in his Toyota Corolla Fielder.
- Shivan Raganauth and Prakash Raganauth claimed victory in the 14-second and 12-second classes, respectively.
- Vishal Gewan and Krishna Ramsewack emerged triumphant in the 11-second and 10-second classes, demonstrating their skill on the track.
The super-bike category also saw thrilling showdowns:
- Shem Chattersingh sped to victory in the 600 CC category aboard his Suzuki GSX-R.
- Jermaine Chattersingh showcased his prowess in the 1000 CC category, highlighting the exhilarating speed of his bike.
The ‘1320 Heat’ drag meet was a testament to the passion and dedication of the participants, as they thrilled fans with their high-speed performances.
