As the new school term approaches on September 2, 2024, teachers in Linden are actively preparing their classrooms to ensure they are ready for the influx of students.

This pre-term period is crucial for creating an optimal learning environment, and educators are making full use of their time to get everything in place.

Schools across Guyana are gearing up for the reopening by engaging in various preparation activities.

At Regma Primary School, educators are designing educational modules, hanging learning charts, and decorating doors to welcome the new students.

At McKenzie Primary School, teachers are painting walls and physically preparing classrooms to foster a cohesive and inviting learning atmosphere.

LaShanna Anderson, Acting Regional Education Officer, highlighted the importance of these pre-term activities.

She pointed out that preparing classrooms is essential for setting the stage for a productive school year.

Anderson also commended the enthusiasm of teachers, particularly those working at the nursery and primary levels, for their dedication to getting their classrooms ready.

This year’s preparations have been facilitated by grants provided to teachers for acquiring necessary learning materials.

Introduced in September 2023, these grants are intended to enhance resources in schools.

Funds are allocated for janitorial and cleaning supplies, office materials and supplies, and field materials and supplies.

The grant amounts are $4,000 per child for urban areas and $5,500 per child for hinterland and riverine schools.

The provision of these grants has made the preparation process smoother, enabling teachers to better equip their classrooms.

At Pine Street Nursery School, educators were seen preparing colorful learning aids and setting up their classrooms for the new students entering the school system.

With these efforts, teachers across Linden are ensuring that schools will be ready to offer a productive and engaging learning environment as students return for the new academic year.
