Teachers and staff of the Ministry of Education have begun collecting their one-time $100,000 cash grant as part of the festive season’s support.
The distribution process commenced earlier today at the Ministry’s Brickdam office before moving to St. Stanislaus College, where several stations were set up for efficient access.
Shannielle Hoosein-Outar, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education, confirmed the distribution was running smoothly, with teachers able to receive their cheques with relative ease, despite minor delays at the Brickdam office due to overcrowding.
Teachers expressed gratitude for the timely assistance, especially as the holidays approach.
Gracelee Pellew, a teacher, mentioned that despite some confusion at the entrance, she was thankful for the grant just in time for Christmas.
Another teacher echoed similar sentiments, noting that the process was relatively smooth once inside.
The distribution is expected to continue until all teachers have received their cheques.
Other state agencies, including the Georgetown Public Hospital, have also started their own distribution processes.
