Renowned bodybuilder Sylvan Gardner, a multiple-time gold medalist at the Central America and Caribbean (CAC) bodybuilding championships, is set to make his long-awaited return to the CAC stage at the National Cultural Centre in Guyana this weekend.
Gardner, who was part of the last local team to host the event in 2004, sees this competition as the ideal moment to retire from the sport.
Having captured four golds and a bronze at CAC events over his career, Gardner has been preparing intensely for what he hopes will be a memorable farewell performance.
Now a full-time trainer at Fitness 53, he is competing in the under 70 kg category and is eager to showcase his hard work and dedication.
Reflecting on the significance of hosting CAC again in Guyana, Gardner said that it offers the local team an excellent opportunity to shine on home ground.
Joining him on the Masters’ roster are Selwyn Grogan and Rawle Green, alongside top Guyanese bodybuilders like Emmerson Campbell, Roger Callender, Julio Sinclair, and Hannah Rampersaud.
Competitions will span various categories, including Masters, Senior Bodybuilding, Men’s Physique, Junior Wellness, and Bikini.
The event weigh-ins are scheduled for Friday at the National Cultural Centre.
Sponsors for the CAC championship include Bounty Farms Ltd, Andrews Supermarket, the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport, the National Sports Commission, Guyana Olympic Association, Twins Manufacturing, Fitness Express, Camille’s Academy, and Republic Bank (Guyana).
