In a bid to address Guyana’s high cardiovascular mortality rate, local group Stride 592 is organizing a 5K and 10K group training event for the public.

The initiative aims to foster a sense of community, accountability, and social interaction while providing training techniques under the guidance of experienced leaders.

Onika Jervis, the founder of Stride 592, highlighted the opportunity for people to come together, receive training tips, and engage with like-minded individuals.

The organization’s overarching goal is to contribute to building a healthier Guyana, considering the country’s leading position in the Caribbean region for heart disease.

As cardiovascular issues top the list of causes of death in Guyana, Stride 592 envisions itself as a catalyst for mobilizing communities to embrace activities like walking, running, and movement for improved health.

The event is scheduled to take place at the National Park in Georgetown on January 28. Interested individuals can find more information on Facebook and Instagram or contact the organizers at +592-640-2444.
