In an effort to simplify the process of obtaining licenses for wildlife-related activities, the Guyana Wildlife Conservation and Management Commission (GWCMC) has partnered with the Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC).

This collaboration aims to make it easier for individuals to apply for wildlife licenses or permits, with applications now accepted at local post offices.

Deuel Hughes, the Communication Officer of GWCMC, outlined the new system, which allows applicants to complete their paperwork and make payments directly at their nearest post office.

Once processed, the licenses will be promptly mailed to the applicants’ addresses, eliminating the need for them to travel to Georgetown.

Hughes emphasized the importance of compliance with wildlife regulations, warning that operating without proper licenses could result in severe legal consequences, including hefty fines and imprisonment.

Prospective users of wildlife resources are urged to apply for licenses promptly, ensuring they have the necessary documentation, including identification,

Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) certificate, firearm certificate (for hunters), and food handling certificate (for those involved in the sale of wild meat).

This initiative aims to streamline the licensing process, promote regulatory compliance, and deter illegal wildlife-related activities across Guyana.
