Residents of Strathspey, East Coast Demerara, are set to see significant improvements in road infrastructure as part of a $63.4 million upgrade project.

Six roads in the area are currently undergoing extensive work, with completion expected by March 2025.

During a community outreach, Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, addressed local concerns about the deteriorating main access road, which has been significantly damaged by heavy-duty trucks.

Minister Edghill confirmed that repairs will be carried out to make the road more accessible and convenient for residents.

In line with President Dr. Irfaan Ali’s directive, the existing walkway to the local school will be converted into a driveway to improve access to the school.

This is part of the government’s broader commitment to enhancing community infrastructure and improving the quality of life for residents.

Minister Edghill also emphasized the government’s dedication to engaging communities and completing infrastructure projects that have a positive impact on lives and livelihoods across the country.

Following the community engagement, Minister Edghill conducted site inspections to oversee the progress of the work.
