Steve Ninvalle has been re-elected as President of the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) for another four-year term during the organization’s annual general meeting and election of office bearers.
The event took place recently at the National Racquet Centre on Woolford Avenue.
Ninvalle will continue to lead a team comprising 1st Vice-President Dr. Marissa Parris, 2nd Vice-President Lt. Colonel Gordon Nedd, 3rd Vice-President Carl Graham, Secretary Stacy Correia, Treasurer Dexter Patterson, and Assistant Secretary/Treasurer Seon Bristol.
Under Ninvalle’s leadership, the GBA plans to focus on enhancing coaching and officiating standards.
Currently, the association boasts a three-star coach, Sebert Blake, and a one-star coach, Clifton Moore, with plans underway to have additional coaches upgraded and certified. Similarly, efforts are being made to certify referee judges.
The association is also exploring initiatives to encourage more female participation in the sport, reflecting a broader commitment to inclusivity within boxing.
Looking ahead, the GBA is preparing to send a representative team to the Caribbean Championship in St. Lucia during the second week of December.
This venture requires approximately $4 million in sponsorship to support the athletes and their participation.
The re-election marks another step forward for the GBA as it continues to work toward strengthening the sport locally and maintaining its presence in regional competitions.
