Stephen Liburd, coach of the West Indies female Under-19 cricket team, expressed his admiration for the talent he witnessed during his brief visit to Guyana, as part of his mission to prepare the team for the Under 19 World Cup in 2025.

Having already visited St. Lucia and Barbados, Liburd’s itinerary includes stops in Trinidad and Tobago, Dominica, and Jamaica, following his time in Guyana.

His objective is not only to ensure that the players are adhering to the training regimen set out for them but also to scout for additional talent.

“The aim of it is to check in with our players just to ensure they are doing the work we have set out for them and also just to see if I spot any other additional talent,” Liburd explained, emphasizing the importance of identifying promising young players ahead of the U19 World Cup.

In his interactions with the girls in Guyana and the wider region, Liburd stressed the significance of focused training sessions.

He urged players to approach each session with a clear goal in mind and to train with purpose, emphasizing that improvement and development come from setting and achieving specific objectives during training.

As preparations intensify for the U19 World Cup, Liburd’s insights and guidance are invaluable as the team strives for success on the international stage.
