State to Appeal Case Against Winston Jordan: AG Says Process Could Reach CCJ

Attorney General Anil Nandlall says that the state will be appealing the case against Winston Jordan

The Attorney General’s Chambers has initiated the process to appeal the decision made by the full court regarding the case involving Winston Jordan and NICIL.

This case revolves around the sale of Water Street land to BK Marine for $20 million, significantly below its estimated value of approximately $5 billion.

AG Anil Nandlall stated that the first step in the appeal process is to secure leave from the Court of Appeal, and an application to this effect has already been submitted.

In the initial dismissal of the case, the full court determined that the Attorney General’s involvement was inappropriate, characterizing it as a purely contractual matter unrelated to the government.

They described the AG’s participation as meddling.

However, Nandlall contends that the property was severely undervalued and argues that the court’s decision lacks justification.

Nandlall emphasized the government’s commitment to pursuing legal avenues to address what they describe as significant land giveaways by NICIL and the Guyana Lands and Survey Commission during the APNU/AFC administration.
