The Guyana Basketball Federation’s (GBF) Elite 16 tournament saw an exciting weekend of action, with Stabroek Eagles and North Ruimveldt Ravens advancing to the next stage after impressive victories.
The night began with a gripping match between Stabroek Eagles and the Bounty Colts.
Both teams battled hard, with the first quarter ending in a tie, 14-14.
The Eagles, led by senior player Travis Belgrave, showed their skill with fast counterattacks and solid defense.
By halftime, the Colts were up by two points, 40-38.
But the Eagles fought back in the third quarter, outscoring the Colts 17-11, and finished strong with a 76-74 victory, sending the Colts home.
In the second game of the night, North Ruimveldt Ravens faced off against McDoom/Prospect Kobras.
The Ravens dominated from the start, finishing with a commanding 67-32 win, further cementing their place as tournament contenders.
The tournament’s champion will receive a grand prize of $300,000, while the runner-up will take home $100,000, and the third-place team will earn $50,000.
Additionally, the MVP of the tournament will be awarded $25,000.
The competition continues this Wednesday with Semi-final action at the same venue.
