St. Ignatius Advances to Quarterfinals in Blue Water Shipping U-15 Girls’ School Championship

Six schools from various regions and two from Georgetown have secured spots in the quarterfinals of the Blue Water Shipping Under-15 Girls’ National Secondary School Championship after a competitive Round of 16 held at the Guyana Football Federation’s national training center over the weekend.

Saint Ignatius demonstrated their prowess in a match against Woodley Park from Region Five, securing a commanding 8-0 victory.

Ledona Simon, Leanna Liras, Sonya Simon, Priya Leonard, and Bruna John all contributed to Saint Ignatius’ goals throughout the game, with early strikes ensuring a three-goal lead by halftime.

In other matches, Ann’s Grove clinched a hard-fought 1-0 win over New Amsterdam, courtesy of Vilincia Valentine’s goal in the 15th minute.

Bartica and President’s College played to a goalless draw.

The tournament’s preliminary round featured teams divided into four groups, with top performers advancing to the quarterfinals scheduled for June 29.

St. Ignatius, Waramuri Primary, Santa Rosa Secondary, and Bartica Secondary are among the schools progressing, setting the stage for the championship final on June 30.
