The development of new house lots and infrastructure at Amelia’s Ward Fitz Hope Scheme is being hindered by eight squatting structures, according to Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) Chief Executive Officer Sherwin Greaves.
Greaves, along with a team from the Ministry of Housing and Water, visited the new housing development on Wednesday morning to assess the situation and formulate solutions.
He emphasized the importance of addressing the issue to proceed with planned developments.
In the new housing scheme, over 400 lots have already been allocated, and another 160 have been regularized.
Greaves reminded residents of the negative impact of squatting, highlighting that it obstructs essential infrastructure projects such as roads, electricity, and water installations.
The CH&PA is actively working on these infrastructure projects to promote the occupancy of the allocated house lots, which is the authority’s ultimate goal.
Greaves noted that allocations are ongoing, and there are many exciting developments in store for Linden.
The visit aimed to determine the CH&PA’s next steps in resolving the issue caused by the eight squatting structures blocking current infrastructural works.
