The West Indies cricket team finds themselves in a tough spot after suffering a 127-run defeat to Pakistan in the opening Test of their two-match series in Multan.
The match, which lasted just three days, was dominated by Pakistan’s spinners, who claimed 34 of the 40 available wickets in the game.
Pakistan, resuming the day at 109/3, were dismissed for 157, setting a target of 251 for the West Indies.
However, the Caribbean side struggled against the spin attack, with Sajid Khan taking five wickets, Abrar Ahmed claiming four, and Noman Ali adding one.
West Indies, unable to cope with the pressure, were bowled out for 123, handing Pakistan a commanding victory.
West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite expressed disappointment with his side’s performance, noting that the team failed to maintain pressure on the hosts during key moments.
Brathwaite acknowledged that a better, more consistent all-round performance is necessary for the West Indies to bounce back in the second Test.
The second Test will begin on January 25, and Brathwaite emphasized that his team must find a way to perform better to level the series.
