Amerindian culture took center stage, with festivities showcasing delectable dishes, intricate crafts, traditional games, and captivating cultural performances.

In the thrilling cricket competition, the Malali females displayed exceptional prowess, claiming the coveted first place prize of $65,000, triumphing over the formidable Dave And Celena All Stars. Meanwhile, the South Stars emerged victorious in the male category, securing $40,000 in prize money, with Kairuni clinching second place along with a trophy.

Patrons also engaged in spirited watermelon eating and Piwari drinking competitions, adding an extra layer of excitement to the festivities.

Citizens from all walks of life reveled in the celebrations, immersing themselves in the rich tapestry of Amerindian traditions and ways of life.

Rufina Allicock, a resident of Speightland, expressed her joy, stating, “Happy Heritage to every Guyanese… Thank you for supporting our heritage… We came out with a bang… Better.”

Susan Marks from Block 42 echoed the sentiment, describing the event as a “great and good initiative” that she thoroughly enjoyed.

Ray Smith, a visiting tourist, shared his experience, saying, “This is the first time I went to an Amerindian Heritage day… Me and my family came from the US… We walked around, enjoyed some of the wild meat… We look forward to coming back next time.”

Kelcie Couchman, a resident, lauded the turnout and applauded Region Ten for upholding their traditions.

Notable local leaders, including MP Devin Sears, Chairman Derron Adams, and Deputy Mayor Dominique Blair, were also present to join in the celebrations.
