Sparta Boss and Bent Street ‘A’ will clash in the final of the inaugural Kashif and Shanghai One Guyana National Futsal Championship after both teams overcame tough semi-final challenges.
The highly anticipated final is set for tomorrow night at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
In the first semi-final, Sparta Boss had to fight hard to secure their spot in the final against Back Circle ‘A’.
Sparta took an early lead with a ninth-minute strike from Jermaine Junor.
However, Back Circle responded quickly, with Darren Benjamin leveling the score in the 14th minute.
A penalty in the 17th minute, converted by Mark Beveney, gave Back Circle the lead at halftime.
Sparta Boss came out strong in the second half, leveling the score in the 23rd minute with another penalty, this time converted by Junor.
As the match reached its climax, Junor scored his third goal in the 20th minute, sealing the win for Sparta Boss and sending them to the final.
In the second semi-final, Bent Street ‘A’ and Road Warriors delivered a thrilling encounter with a combined 13 goals.
After going 2-1 down, Bent Street fought back with four consecutive goals to take a 5-2 lead.
Road Warriors responded with two goals, narrowing the score to 5-4.
Bent Street added another goal to restore their advantage, but Road Warriors fought back again, scoring twice to level the game at 6-6.
With extra time looming, Bent Street found the match-winner with a late goal, securing a 7-6 victory.
Key contributions came from Daniel Wilson, Jamaine Beckles, and Daniel Ross, who each scored twice in the intense match.
Sparta Boss and Bent Street ‘A’ will now face off in the final for the two-million-dollar cash prize and championship trophy.
The match is set for January 3 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
