The third annual ExxonMobil/New Era Entertainment Futsal Tournament kicked off on Friday at the Retrieve Hard Court, with exciting matches and standout performances.
The opening night saw intense competition, including a remarkable blowout win by the Spaniards, who defeated Old Kala 19-2. Shaka Lewis and Denzil Pryce were key contributors, scoring 7 and 5 goals, respectively.
In other games, Tigers narrowly edged out AHSASA 6-5, and Silver Bullets won against Hardball 4-2.
A thrilling match between One Side and Bomberz ended in a 7-all draw after regulation time.
During the event, Wainewright Bethune, President of the Upper Demerara Football Association, expressed his gratitude to New Era Entertainment for promoting football in all its forms.
Member of Parliament Jermaine Figueria highlighted the tournament’s growth and the discovery of new talent, urging the promoters to consider a women’s tournament in the future.
