In an effort to support local businesses and foster community development, the South Amelia’s Ward Community Development Committee (CDC) organized its second Market Day at the ball field on Obama Drive.
The event aimed to provide a platform for small business owners in the community to showcase and sell their products.
Patrons had the opportunity to explore a diverse range of items, including locally made confectioneries, hygiene products, plants, dairy items, and locally produced spices.
Business owners expressed their gratitude for the support received during the event.
Cassandra Crawford, a business owner, shared her positive experience, stating, “Earlier, we had a very nice turnout for customers. Some of the confectionery stands are finished, so yes, I had good support thus far.”
Prescenella Coppin, another business owner, mentioned, “I’m sold out; I’ve already packed up. So, it was a good turnout today for me at least.”
While some businesses experienced a successful turnout, others are optimistic about future events generating an even greater response from the community.
The South Amelia’s CDC plans to make Market Day a regular occurrence to continually promote the development of small businesses within the community.
“We hope that as people learn about it more, they will be able to support. We know Obama Drive is all the way in the Ward, but this is an opportunity to let people know that things are going on in the ward too,” emphasized the Secretary of South Amelia’s Ward CDC.
The CDC encourages the public to support future events, contributing to the growth and sustainability of local businesses.
