Thirty-eight residents of Sophia have graduated from the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) program, enhancing their skills in various technical fields to improve their employment prospects.
The graduation ceremony was held at the Georgetown Training Centre, where graduates received certifications in Welding and Fabrication, Electrical Installation, Plumbing, and Information Technology.
Several graduates shared how the training has provided them with valuable skills, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to learn new methods in their respective trades.
One welding graduate described the course as an exciting experience, while Dipaula Hunte, a graduate in Electrical Installation, highlighted how the program sparked her interest and provided a foundation in the electrical field, which she previously knew little about.
Minister of Labour Joseph Hamilton, who addressed the graduates, encouraged them to continue building on their skills.
He emphasized that graduates are welcome to pursue additional training with BIT, advising that future programs should complement their current skillsets.
This latest group of graduates brings the total number of Sophia residents who have completed BIT programs to 145, comprising 79 males and 64 females.
