Soil samples from the site of the Mackenzie-Wismar bridge project are currently being tested after concerns were raised about possible rare earth elements in the area.
The issue was brought to attention by Mayor Sharma Solomon during a public stakeholder meeting on Saturday at the Watooka Guest House, where Minister of Public Works Bishop Juan Edghill was present.
Minister Edghill assured residents that steps would be taken to address the issue promptly, emphasizing the importance of public health and safety.
In a follow-up on Monday, Minister Edghill confirmed that samples collected on Saturday are under examination, and further updates will be provided once the results are available.
