The Soesdyke-Linden Highway is set to be transformed into a major tourism hub, according to President Dr. Irfaan Ali.

This development follows the signing of a $200 million contract for the highway’s reconstruction.

President Ali highlighted that this investment will be pivotal in creating new tourism products and attracting more visitors to Guyana.

He pointed out that a local investor has committed over $50 million to build a state-of-the-art tourism facility along the highway, which will be a key component of the Silica City project.

The highway redevelopment is expected to generate hundreds of new job opportunities for residents along the Soesdyke-Linden corridor.

President Ali noted that the local community will have first access to these positions, including those at the new Marriott hotel under construction in Timehri, which has already employed more than 125 people.

Additionally, President Ali mentioned that the area will not only be developed for tourism but will also see growth in industrial and mechanical sectors, with significant employment opportunities arising from projects like BOSAI in Linden.
