Thirty-five small business owners were recognized for their outstanding contributions to Guyana’s economy at the Small Business Bureau Awards held at the Pegasus Suites.

Entrepreneurs from diverse sectors, including agro-processing, sustainable tourism, fashion, business consultancy, and cultural acts, were commended for their innovation and hard work.

During the ceremony, recipients expressed gratitude for the support provided by the Small Business Bureau (SBB).

Budwatty Ramnarine, owner of B&R Food Package and Craft, acknowledged the encouragement and training she received from the Bureau, which helped elevate her business.

Devran Pitt of Fantasy Destinations highlighted the role of SBB’s training programs in his success within sustainable tourism.

Ameer Rahim of Rahim’s Agrifarm and Livestock Establishment shared how the Bureau’s assistance allowed him to expand into cold-pressed coconut oil and plantain flour production.

Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Hon. Oneidge Walrond, described small businesses as the “backbone of the economy.”

She emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment to boost enterprises of all sizes.

Walrond encouraged the awardees to let their achievements inspire greater heights and motivate others to embark on entrepreneurial ventures.

The CEO of the Small Business Bureau, Mohamed Ibrahim, noted that the Bureau has provided over one billion dollars in funding to small businesses and trained more than 10,000 individuals in marketing, financial literacy, and business development over the past four years.

Among the honorees were Unique Amerindian Handi-Craft, Daisy Fresh Laundromat, Boss Chips Enterprises, and Dolls & Dollars Boutique, showcasing the diversity of talent contributing to Guyana’s vibrant economy.
