In a thrilling encounter at the Ministry of Education Ground, Slingerz Football Club secured a narrow victory over Victoria Kings, marking their successful return to the Elite League.

The Guyana Football Federation promotional matchup on Sunday witnessed an intense battle, with Slingerz FC claiming a hard-fought win.

Heading into the clash, Slingerz FC was the favored side, but Victoria Kings presented a formidable defense, making it a challenging contest for the West Demerara team.

Despite dominating possession, Slingerz FC faced a resilient Kings defense in the first half, resulting in a goalless score at halftime.

Undeterred, the West Demerara football side continued their offensive efforts in the second half, missing a few early chances.

The breakthrough finally came in the 54th minute when Simeon Moore’s strike found the back of the net, securing a one-nil victory for Slingerz FC as regulation time ended.

Head coach Charles Pollard expressed satisfaction with the win but noted his disappointment in his team’s execution, especially considering the missed opportunities.

With their return to the Elite League, Slingerz FC sets its sights on achieving glory, anticipating more challenging encounters against the top clubs in the country.
