In a significant development for Guyana’s aviation sector, Sky High Domicana Airlines inaugurated its new office on David Street, Kitty, just weeks after commencing operations in the country.
Since the commencement of direct flights on February 18th, operating thrice weekly to the Dominican Republic and various other destinations, the airline has swiftly established its presence in Guyana’s aviation landscape.
This milestone is attributed to the partnership secured during President Irfaan Ali’s visit and discussions in 2023, solidifying ties between Guyana and the Dominican Republic.
Minister of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce, Hon. Oneidge Walrond, highlighted that Sky High Domicana’s expansion aligns with the government’s vision to bolster the aviation industry and attract one million visitors by 2025.
She emphasized that such investments are timely, particularly as Guyana witnesses a surge in visitor arrivals, showcasing the country’s growing tourism offerings.
Dominican Republic Ambassador to Guyana, Ernesto Pereyra, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing Sky High Domicana’s role in facilitating a multi-destination tourism strategy, effectively connecting Guyana with various global destinations.
The airline’s current route network includes direct flights to key destinations such as Miami, Antigua, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, Anguilla, French Guiana, and Cuba, among others, providing travelers with convenient access to a diverse range of destinations.
The opening of Sky High Domicana’s office in Georgetown represents a significant step towards enhancing air connectivity and promoting tourism in Guyana, further solidifying the country’s position as a key player in the regional aviation industry.
