President Dr. Irfaan Ali has announced that Sir Clive Lloyd, the legendary West Indies cricketer, will head the National Cricket Academy under the One Guyana program.
This initiative is part of a broader plan to enhance sports development across the country.
At the recent launch, President Ali expressed his enthusiasm for the program, noting its alignment with the government’s commitment to grassroots sports development.
The academy, based at the National Stadium, aims to provide young cricketers with advanced training and facilities.
The initiative will also include multipurpose sports facilities and health support for national athletes.
The first phase of the program will encompass various sports, with plans to build on these foundations for broader sports development.
