ExxonMobil Guyana President, Alistair Routledge, announced substantial advancements in the installation of the pipeline for the highly anticipated gas-to-shore project during a press conference held on Tuesday.
Routledge revealed that the laying of the pipeline for the gas-to-energy project is progressing well and is on track for completion by the end of the year.
Approximately 40 percent of the project works have already been completed, marking a significant milestone in the initiative.
The installation of the pipeline, which commenced in 2023, is being executed in two phases to ensure efficient progress and adherence to project timelines.
ExxonMobil aims to deliver the completed pipeline to enable commissioning and testing activities before the power plant comes online by the project’s deadline.
The pipeline, measuring 12 inches in width, is designed to transport around 50 million standard cubic feet of dry gas per day to the NGL plant, with a maximum capacity of 120 standard cubic feet.
This project holds significant implications for Guyana’s energy landscape, as it is expected to diversify the country’s energy mix and reduce electricity costs for households and businesses.
The anticipated decrease in energy expenses could stimulate growth in industrial activities and manufacturing sectors, further contributing to Guyana’s economic development.
