The Shuttle Strikers emerged as champions of the One Guyana President’s Cup Badminton Tournament, held over the weekend at the National Gymnasium.
The tournament featured four teams: Shuttle Strikers, Court Conquerors, Terminetters, and Black Panthers, with competition in boys’ and girls’ singles, as well as doubles and mixed doubles categories.
Shuttle Strikers secured the title with a 3-0 victory in the finals, winning the boys’ singles, girls’ singles, and boys’ doubles matches.
Frank Waddell triumphed in the boys’ singles, while Mishka Beharry claimed victory in the girls’ singles.
Gabriel Felix and Nikolas Pollard secured the boys’ doubles win after defeating Terminetters’ Avinash Ramnarine and Vishaul Gopaul.
Director of Sport, Steve Ninvalle, congratulated the participating teams, many of whom will represent Guyana in the upcoming Carebaco Regional Tournament in Aruba.
