The Showstoppers from East Bank/West Demerara emerged victorious in the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ National Championship, securing a decisive 3-0 win over Laing Avenue on Friday evening.
The match, held at the Pouderoyen tarmac, saw Amos Ramsay scoring twice, with Stephon Jupiter adding a third to seal the triumph and the one-million-dollar prize.
Laing Avenue, for their efforts, walked away with $500,000 for securing second place.
In the third-place playoff, North Ruimveldt narrowly edged out the Silver Bullets of Linden 1-0, thanks to a 16th-minute goal from Aeon Alleyne, earning them $300,000.
The national championship featured teams from various regional competitions, including West Demerara, Georgetown, Linden, East Coast, Berbice, Bartica, and Essequibo.
