In a recent Annual General Meeting held on Saturday, January 27, the Demerara Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association (DCUSA) welcomed Shivashankar Nandkumar as its newly elected president.
The AGM marked a significant moment for the association, charting a new course under the leadership of Nandkumar.
The executive committee will be led by President Shivashankar Nandkumar, with Ava Baker assuming the role of Vice-President.
Karen Weatherspoon will serve as Secretary, and Stephon Josiah retains the position of Treasurer after being re-elected.
The vital role of Public Relations will be undertaken by umpire Chandraban Rajnarine.
The four committee members elected are Javid Persaud, Niebert Blair, Nadine Smith, and Validum Ritney, each contributing to the diverse skill set and expertise within the association.
President Nandkumar outlined immediate plans for the DCUSA, emphasizing the establishment of the first sub-committee.
This sub-committee aims to represent Guyana and the West Indies at the international level, contributing to the growth and recognition of umpiring and scoring standards.
Expressing readiness to collaborate, President Nandkumar highlighted plans to work closely with the Guyana Cricket Board and other cricketing organizations.
