Shemar Joseph Eager to Make Mark in Windies Tour of Australia

Guyana and West Indies fast bowler Shemar Joseph expressed his eagerness to make a significant impact in test cricket as he prepares for the Windies tour of Australia scheduled for January 2024.

In a recent interview on the Mason and Guest radio show, Shemar Joseph conveyed his excitement about the call-up to the Windies tour to Australia.

Despite his joy, he stated that the selection did not come as a surprise, emphasizing that playing for the West Indies has always been his dream.

The 24-year-old fast bowler is one of five Guyanese cricketers included in the 15-man squad announced by Cricket West Indies last week.

Before launching his cricketing career, Joseph worked at a security firm. In his relatively short first-class career, he has already taken two five-wicket hauls and claimed 21 wickets in five matches.

Acknowledging the potential challenges in Australia, Joseph expressed confidence in his abilities.

The Windies squad is set to play a two-Test series in Australia as part of the ICC World Test Championship from January 17 to 29, 2024.

Captain Kraigg Brathwaite will lead the Caribbean unit, with fast bowler Alzarri Joseph serving as the vice-captain.

The squad is scheduled to arrive in Australia on December 30 and will undergo a preparation camp from January 2-9.

Following the camp, they will engage in a four-day First-Class warm-up match against a Cricket Australia XI from January 10-13.
