Shemar Britton Dominates at Guyana Table Tennis Association Christmas Tournament

The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Christmas Tournament concluded in a thrilling final at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, on Sunday, showcasing the rising talent in the country’s table tennis scene.

In the Men’s Singles, Shemar Britton emerged victorious, delivering a dominant performance against Krystian Sahadeo with scores of 11-3, 11-4, and 11-5 in the final.

Britton’s path to victory included wins over Jaden Trotman, Ebo McNeil, and the tournament’s favorite, Jonathan Van-Lange, in the semifinals.

Sahadeo, who narrowly defeated Malachi Moore in a gripping five-set semifinal, finished second.

Malachi Moore claimed the “B” Class Open title after a hard-fought victory against Sahadeo in the final.

Moore won the match 7-11, 11-9, 11-5, 7-11, 11-6.

In the “C” Class, Ebo McNeil triumphed over Akira Watson, winning 11-7, 11-3, 3-11, and 11-8 in a 3-1 victory.

Meanwhile, the Novice Open title went to Obinner Utoh, who defeated Alex Garraway 13-11, 11-2, and 12-10, showcasing a strong performance.

This year’s Christmas tournament highlighted the increasing depth of talent within Guyana’s table tennis community, further cementing the sport’s growth in the country.
