Cricket sensation Shamar Joseph received a hero’s welcome on Thursday evening at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Timehri, celebrating his outstanding performance against Australia.

Amidst cheers and celebrations, Shamar Joseph, the young fast bowler, was greeted by family, friends, and sports personalities, marking the nation’s pride in his exceptional achievement.

Joseph’s remarkable figures of 7 for 68 played a pivotal role in dismissing the Australian team, leading the West Indies to their first victory down under since 1997.

Expressing his emotions upon arrival, Joseph described the feeling as spectacular, emphasizing the joy of making his family and country proud.

Shamar Joseph, who hails from Baracara, encouraged young athletes not to give up on their dreams, emphasizing that success is always attainable through belief.

Benefiting from valuable tips at a camp organized by the Berbice Cricket Board, where he received guidance from legendary Sir Curtly Ambrose under the leadership of past president Hilbert Foster, Joseph highlighted the West Indies test team’s appreciation for the overwhelming support from the country, the Caribbean, and around the world.

Reaffirming his commitment to test cricket as a crucial developmental tool, Joseph expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and continued support from fans.

Government officials, members of the Guyana Cricket Board, and the Harpy Eagles team were present to welcome Shamar Joseph.

In recognition of his exceptional performance, Cricket West Indies (CWI) upgraded his franchise contract to an international retainer contract.

Joseph now joins fellow Guyanese players Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Gudakesh Motie, and Romario Shepherd with international contracts.

As the rewards continue to pour in, Shamar Joseph’s journey in the world of cricket is being celebrated, setting a promising path for the rising star in West Indies cricket.
